Upcoming Event

Synodality in St Louis
(June 9-10)

Through prayer, dialogue, and shared discernment, the People of God will experience how the Church can continue its mission with hope, unity, and courage. Together, we look toward the future: not alone, but walking as one People of God.

A Brief History of the Synod on Synodality

Called by the Vatican "the most important event in the Church since Vatican II, this Church renewal began in 2021.  Pope Francis launched a historic global process inviting the entire People of God to reflect on how the Church walks together: listening, discerning and participating in mission.

This Synod on Synodality involved local consultations in parishes and dioceses across the world, continental assemblies and two month-long gatherings in Rome in 2023 & 2024, with the Pope, cardinals, bishops, priests, religious and laity.  In 2025, there was a 2-day global convocation called "Jubilee of Synodal Teams and Participatory Bodies."
We now begin the Implementation Phase in our daily lives since "synod" taken from the Greek means “walking together.”

These gatherings emphasized listening to every voice especially those often unheard.  Synodality can be summed up in four words: "spiritual renewal and structural reform."  This is expressed through deeper communion, participation and mission.

Sr. Nathalie Becquart, XMCJ

Sr. Nathalie Becquart serves as Undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod in Rome collaborating with Cardinal Mario Grech and Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, SJ. They are the central figures in coordinating and animating the global synodal process.

Today, Sr. Nathalie continues to travel worldwide, helping dioceses, religious communities, and organizations implement synodal practices of listening, dialogue, and collaborative leadership for the future of the Church.

This event offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from her experience at the heart of the Synod.
